However, I used a --prefix to hide it from ciao (the default of /usr/local puts an incompatible slsh on the path that ciao doesn't like)! So, my isis is linked against a good slang and works nicely while the ciao slsh scripts are happy in their own environment. Thanks for your help in all this.
