too many local variables

Anything I can do about this error?

isis> evalfile("plotFluxes.sl");
Too many local variables
./plotFluxes.sl:999:<top-level>:Syntax Error


Everything else is coded modular; this is the script that pulls everything
together and makes the plots for publication, and it works well to have it be
one big module.

Is the stack size (and/or # of local variables) configurable?
